ClassFrom 5 to 14 July, IACA proudly presented its annual International Anti-Corruption Summer Academy (IACSA). The programme brought together 70 participants from the public and private sectors, civil society, academia and the media. Altogether, they represented more than 50 countries.

ECOSOCFrom 8 to 10 July, IACA took part in the United Nations Economic and Social Council’s (ECOSOC) high-level panel on accountability, transparency and sustainable development. The panel’s goal was to draw attention to the relationship between corruption and development and to promote an exchange of views on innovative approaches and partnerships in combatting corruption.

Theo Waigel VisitIACA received a delegation led by the former German Federal Minister of Finance, Mr. Theodor Waigel, on 14 June. In January of 2009, Mr. Waigel was appointed as compliance monitor by the Siemens AG. He has been the first non-American to ever hold this position. In his function, Mr. Waigel delivers regular reports concerning the company’s compliance measures.

MK and GFG visiting BulgariaOn June 5 and 6, an IACA delegation led by Martin Kreutner, Chair of the International Transition Team and Executive Secretary to the Provisional Commission, was received by Bulgaria’s newly elected Vice President, Ms. Magarita Popova. The Vice President emphasized the importance of IACA as an educational institution and reaffirmed her country’s full support for it.

BiH Accedes to the IACA AgreementThe Academy welcomed its newest member on 16 May. Bosnia and Herzegovina became the 60th constituent or 57th state to join the Agreement for the Establishment of the International Anti-Corruption Academy as an International Organization.
